FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments in 2024 on September 26, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The request was made for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024. The requested information includes the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount.
As media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from Dekalb County regarding this request and will continue our work in bringing important local governmental affairs into the public eye.
