State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Contract with America in Statuary Hall alongside Newt Gingrich, the architect of the contract. Miller emphasized the need for a new Contract with America to address current issues such as border security, job protection, and family safety.

Miller highlighted energy concerns, advocating for an "all-of-the-above" strategy that includes fossil fuels, renewable energy, and nuclear power. He criticized recent editorial positions from the Chicago Tribune on what he termed a "looming energy crisis."

Miller also called for repealing Illinois' TRUST Act to end its sanctuary state status and reduce undocumented immigration. He urged constituents to sign a petition against Governor Pritzker's policies.

The Gotion controversy has gained national attention. Miller referenced an opinion piece by Gordon Chang criticizing U.S. taxpayer financing linked to China's Gotion.

In public safety matters, Miller hosted a roundtable with local law enforcement from his district. Following this meeting, he sent a letter to Speaker Chris Welch outlining concerns about the SAFE-T Act, mental health issues, and body cam grants.

A report from Auditor General Frank Mautino revealed that the Illinois Department of Employment Security failed to track over $6 million in unemployment claims accurately. The state paid out more than $5 billion in fraudulent or excessive claims between fiscal years 2020 and 2022.

Illinois experienced significant job losses in August due to business closures driven by what Miller described as a negative tax culture. The state's business tax climate was ranked 37th nationally by the Tax Foundation’s 2024 report.
