State Representative Adam Niemerg has voiced strong opposition to proposed changes to the Illinois state flag, describing the effort as an attempt to infuse far-left ideology. He is urging Illinois citizens to join him in opposing the redesign.

Niemerg stated, "In and of itself, the idea of a new flag is not necessarily a terrible idea. However, the real purpose behind this effort is not to elevate Illinois’ history but rather to use the flag to advance the far left’s political ideology."

Governor JB Pritzker, upon signing Senate Bill 1818 into law, commented, "Throughout our 205-year history, Illinois has boasted two official state flags; and it may be time we create a new one that exemplifies the values of our great state."

Niemerg raised concerns about potential influences on the new design: “Will we highlight the Governor’s efforts to partner with Chinese-owned companies? Or will the flag become a state-sponsored tribute to the Pride flag? We need patriotic citizens to take a stand against this clear attempt to rebrand our state according to leftist ideology.”

To combat these proposed changes, Rep. Niemerg has initiated a petition drive. He encouraged citizens by saying, “I urge everyone to sign the petition and oppose the effort to redesign our flag. It is time for Illinois Patriots to step up and Save Our Flag.”
