A new study from the Better Business Bureau reports that investment scams are on the rise, particularly cryptocurrency and romance scams.

The report highlights a growing trend where scammers exploit the increasing popularity of digital currencies and online dating platforms to deceive victims. According to the study, these fraudulent activities have become more sophisticated, making it harder for individuals to recognize and avoid them.

"Cryptocurrency scams often promise high returns with little risk," said an official from the Better Business Bureau. "They lure investors in with professional-looking websites and testimonials from fake users."

Romance scams, another prevalent form of investment fraud, involve criminals creating fake profiles on dating sites or social media platforms. They build trust with their targets before convincing them to invest in fraudulent schemes.

The study urges consumers to exercise caution when approached with unsolicited investment opportunities and to verify the legitimacy of any investment offers through trusted sources.
