Shelby Co. (ECWd) –

According to a letter from American Express addressed to the Estate of Nichole D. Kroncke, she has passed away. However, it is understood that Nichole D. Kroncke is alive and well.

The letter states, "We are very sorry to hear about the death of Nichole D. Kroncke and would like to take this opportunity to express our sympathy." The communication primarily informs the estate that the American Express Business Card account ending in 891004 has been canceled.

Despite this assertion, no estate has been filed with the court, raising questions about why American Express believes Kroncke is deceased. The card in question, account number 378000739891004, was utilized by Kroncke during her tenure as State’s Attorney. This information was confirmed through an unredacted Freedom of Information Act request and communications with the Illinois State Police.

The account remained active after Kroncke left office but was closed following her departure. Several questions remain unanswered regarding this credit card issue. Further records will be published over the coming weeks and months to address these concerns.
