Illinois 4-H members have been chosen to serve as the grand marshals for the annual Twilight Parade at the Illinois State Fair on August 8.

Gotion, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) battery company planning to build a plant in Manteno, Illinois, is facing increasing opposition. The company expects over $8 billion in federal and state subsidies, and its connection to the Chinese Communist Party has raised concerns.

A panel representing both Illinois and Michigan convened last week in Michigan to discuss issues surrounding Gotion. The company also plans to set up operations in Green Charter Township, Michigan.

BYD, another Chinese EV manufacturer, is attempting to enter the U.S. market via Mexico. Stella Li, a top executive for BYD Americas, and the company have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and organizations in California. In January, Congress banned the Pentagon from purchasing BYD's batteries due to security risks.

Gotion’s lawyers recently filed an amended FARA statement acknowledging that the company receives funding from the Chinese government.

According to WalletHub data from March 2024, Illinois ranks high in terms of total tax burden among states. This situation is attributed largely to mismanagement by the Illinois Democrat Supermajority and does not appear to benefit public schools significantly.

State Rep. Kam Buckner introduced House Bill 4592, allowing digital ID cards and driver’s licenses on smartphones. Critics argue this measure could pose security risks without proper debate or consideration.

Governor JB Pritzker is accused of presenting an unrealistic image of Illinois amidst ongoing issues within Chicago neighborhoods near convention sites.

The FBI has issued warnings about "jugging," a technique where victims are robbed after withdrawing money from ATMs. Residents are advised to take precautions against this growing threat.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy outdoor activities in Illinois while favorable weather persists. Hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing opportunities abound throughout the state.
