The Gotion Deal Must End, Says Rep. Miller

On Friday, the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party convened in Green Charter Township, Michigan, to discuss electric vehicle battery maker Gotion and its alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party and forced labor practices. "The reports emanating from that discussion are alarming," stated Rep. Miller.

Expert testimony was provided by individuals monitoring Chinese military, intelligence agencies, and adversarial companies to the United States. Amanda Piker from Concerned Citizens of Manteno also testified. "My colleagues and I stood with Amanda in the first press conference opposing the Gotion deal in Illinois," said Miller.

Governor Pritzker's administration has come under scrutiny for supporting what critics describe as CCP-linked projects. "Governor Pritzker wasting our money, but he is supporting the CCP and slave labor in doing so," added Miller emphatically.

Illinois' Economic Performance Criticized

A recent report by CGFA highlights Illinois' lagging economic performance compared to other states. According to Rep. Miller, "There’s no reason our state should be lagging the nation in any of these metrics." The representative attributes this decline to unfavorable public policies driving residents and businesses away from Illinois.

Chicago's Rising Stress Levels

Chicago ranks as one of the most stressed cities in the country. "J.B. Pritzker has destroyed safety and security in the city," Miller told The Center Square. She cited several contributing factors including educational policies she describes as indoctrination by radical left ideologies and an influx of illegal immigrants burdening city resources.

Unemployment Concerns

Illinois’ unemployment rate rose to 5% in June 2024, making it third-worst in the United States with approximately 328,000 residents seeking employment. This figure surpasses both national averages and neighboring states' rates.

"Illinois has so many advantages... but we are remarkably disabled because of the lack of state leadership that continues to pump out failing public policies and high taxation," stated Rep. Miller.

Out-Migration Issues

Rep. Miller also addressed Illinois’ ongoing out-migration problem which she claims is depleting state tax revenues significantly: "In all, the state budget lost out on about $3.6 billion in income tax revenue in 2022 alone!"

Black Bear Sightings Excite Southern Illinois Residents

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) confirmed rare black bear sightings in southern counties such as Saline, Pope, Williamson, and Jackson due to established populations venturing from neighboring Missouri and Wisconsin during summer months.

For constituents needing assistance or more information about their district representation or services offered by her office located at 1113 Lincoln Ave., Charleston, Rep. Miller encourages reaching out via phone at 217-508-4108 or visiting during office hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
