Arthur Community Unified School District 305 Board of Trustees met June 19.

The regular meeting of the Arthur Board of Education was called to order by President Beth Wiley at 6:00 pm on June 19, 2024 in the Arthur Grade School Cafeteria with the following members in attendance: Suzi Berkich, Brock Casteel, Monica Green, Kristie Mechling, Ryan Nettles, Justin Wierman and Beth Wiley. Mr. Shannon Cheek and administrators were also present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
During recognition of visitors, Mr. Seal presented certificates to high school girls track record holders.
During public comment, Joe Wolfe addressed the board concerning the band program.
The FY2024 Amended Budget Hearing was held.
A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Suzi Berkich to approve the consent agenda as presented which included: the Minutes of the May 15th, 2024 meeting, bills of $578,757,43, the Treasurer's Report, donations, and the Consolidated District Plan. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Justin Wierman to approve the amended budget for FY2024. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
Construction and bond information was presented related to potential building project.
A motion was made by Brock Casteel, seconded by Justin Wierman to approve meeting dates and times as presented. Upon roll, all members voted yea. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Brock Casteel, seconded by Ryan Nettles to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement with Douglas County Health Department for nurse services as presented. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Justin Wierman to go into closed session at 7:32 pm under the Open Meetings Act for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2 ( c )(1). Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Monica Green to leave executive session at 9:23 pm. Upon roll, all present voted yea. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Suzi Berkich to accept executive session minutes as read in executive session. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Ryan Nettles to approve the personnel report as presented which includes: approving Mary Martinez as the ESL teacher for the district, approving Stephanie Alexander as the Art teacher at AGS, approving Stephanie Hale as 4th grade teacher at AGS, approving Sandy Fitzgerald as 4th grade teacher at LGS, accepting the resignation from Mary Martinez as 4th grade teacher at AGS, accepting the resignation from Heather Walker as PreK teacher at AHGS, accepting the resignation from Stephanie Hale as 4th grade teacher at LGS, accepting the resignation from Erin Beck as Kindergarten teacher at AHGS, accepting the resignation from Tara Hill as JH ELA teacher at LGS, approving Lucas Lee as JH Special Education teacher at AGS, approving Camille Unzicker as PreK teacher at AHGS, approving Tiffany Reedy at paraprofessional at LGS, approving Oakley Martin as paraprofessional at LGS, approving Melissa Massie as custodian at AHGS, approving Ashley Marick as paraprofessional at LGS, accepting the resignation from Sandy Fitzgerald as paraprofessional at LGS, approving Sabrina Bettinger as paraprofessional at ALAH HS, approving Kenny Parks as freshman class sponsor, approving Ella Chupp as volunteer JH cheer coach, approving Jenny Moore as volunteer HS volleyball coach, accepting the resignation from Stacy Goodman as JH girls basketball assistant coach. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
