An Illinois judge has issued a temporary injunction blocking an election law passed earlier this month by progressive Democrats. The law, which was swiftly passed through the legislative process, faced significant opposition from Republicans.

Three weeks ago, Democrats introduced and passed an election omnibus bill on the House floor. In response, Republicans protested the move and voted "present" to SB2412.

The recent court decision halts the implementation of the new election law until further review.
