The Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against School District 95 in Paris, Illinois was heard in court yesterday. The suit was initiated after the school provided a heavily redacted document, which the plaintiffs believed violated case law. A copy of the redacted record is available for download.

Judge Sullivan conducted an in-camera review of an unredacted copy of the subpoena issued to District 95 before hearing arguments on the case. Following brief arguments, Judge Sullivan ordered the Federal Grand Jury subpoena to be released with limited redactions of names and a small portion of one paragraph. He directed District 95 to produce the subpoena within seven days.

Numerous articles have been published regarding District 95 and the resulting grand jury subpoena. These articles are available for viewing online.

An additional FOIA will be sent to the District to determine how much money it spent on legal bills to withhold public records. Once these records are obtained, they will be published in a new article.
