Coles County’s 43 coaches earned an average salary of $50,547 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the ninth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Illinois post-secondary schools during 2022.

Coles County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Eastern Illinois University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $55,603.

Male coaches of men's teams received $58,299 on average in Coles County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $36,598.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
