City of Martinsville City Council met Feb. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Alderman Roll Call:

Attendance: Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk‐ Christy Perisho, City Attorney Richard Bernardoni,

Visitors: Dan Kibler‐Marshall Advocate, Sheena Hammond, Ryan Slater‐ Chief of Police

Meeting called to order by Mayor Davidson at 7:02 PM.

Prayer: Bob Lovell. All in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

Dan Kibler discussed the City’s website and updates that were made.

‐‐Hammond noted that the previous month’s meeting incorrectly stated his vote as “Yes” on the handrail bid.

Motion by J. Hammond, 2nd by C. Perry, to approve the previous meeting minutes (1‐31‐24) as corrected.

Elevator bill discussion.

 ‐‐Motion by S. Pendleton, 2nd by C. Davidson, to approve appointment of Sheena Hammond to fill vacancy as City Clerk.

Sheena Hammond sworn in as City Clerk.

‐‐Motion by C. Davidson, 2nd by J. Hammond, to approve the purchase of police body cams as mandated by the State of Illinois, not to exceed $7770.

OTHER:

Mayor Davidson:

 Gas Superintendent warned of substantial gas rate increased due to the cold snap and supplier rate increase during that time.

 Update on pickle ball court: the school has received an informational quote for concrete for a basketball and pickle ball court to use in applying for a community grant.

 No further updates on a handicap swing to be installed in the city park.

 Building Committee would like to be added to next meeting’s agenda for an update.

 Downtown work with banners and lights and city tree trimming requires the rental of a man lift. Mayor Davidson suggests looking into the purchase of a used bucket truck to save the city money on these projects.

 Linn Foundation donated $5000 for park maintenance.

 E. Luken pulled his police application. Ryan is working with candidates for Power Testing in March. There will be a written test implemented as well. A new posting will be put on Indeed for Police Officers to gather more applications.

Chris Perry:

 Plants around welcome signs will be maintained by a volunteer.

Bob Lovell:

 Area communities are passing Resolutions in response to immigrants being relocated to Illinois communities.

Jacob Hammond:

 Need to look into running a natural gas line or switching propane companies for propane on the hilltop.

Ferrellgas prices are high.

Meeting adjourned 8:20 PM.
