City of Casey City Council met Nov. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held Monday November 20th, 2023; beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Mike Nichols was present and called the meeting to order. Marcy Mumford led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call:

Present: Alderman Hanley

Alderman Jenkins

Alderman Mumford

Alderman Richardson

Alderman Williams

Absent: Alderman Wilson

A quorum was declared.

Public Forum:

None

Community Affairs:

None

Meeting Minutes:

Mayor Nichols looked for approval of the minutes of the November 6th, 2023 City Council Meeting.

Alderman Mumford motioned approval of the minutes of the November 16th, 2023 City Council Meeting, seconded by Alderman Richardson. Upon roll call the vote was:

Ayes: 5 – Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson, and Williams Nays: 0 – None

Absent: 1 – Wilson

Motion declared carried.

Officers Reports:

Clerk Mumford presented November 20th, 2023 Bills payable for approval in the amount of $553,285.96.

Alderman Williams motioned approval of the November 20th, 2023 Bills payable, seconded by Alderman Richardson. Upon roll call the vote was: Ayes: 5 – Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson, and Williams Nays: 0 – None

Absent: 1 – Wilson

Motion declared carried.

Treasurer Lorton presented some revenue vs expenditure numbers so far for this month.

Superintendent Biggs presented Ordinance #551: Sale of Personal property for approval. This ordinance would allow him to sell 7 vehicles we no longer need.

Alderman Hanley motioned approval of Ordinance #551, seconded by Alderman Mumford. Upon roll call the vote was:

Ayes: 5 – Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson, and Williams

Nays: 0 – None

Absent: 1 – Wilson

Motion declared carried.

Economic Development Director Tait reported that Christmas in the Park will be opening for viewing Friday night.

Alderman Reports:

Alderman Hanley reported that he got a call from a resident at Quality Housing apartments on 15th street and they have some safety concerns with the property. Mayor Nichols said he would call them and start that process.

Alderman Mumford asked about a house being town down, it was a private owner.

Mayor Report:

Mayor Nichols reported on pond stocking and the possibility of having a handicap dock being built for people in wheel chairs so they would be able to fish. He would also like the Finance Committee to meeting at the first of the year to talk about funding for the park projects.

There was no further Business of the City Council for the November 20th, 2023 Council Meeting.

Alderman Mumford motioned to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Hanley. Upon roll call the vote was:

Ayes: 5 – Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson, and Williams

Nays: 0 – None

Absent: 1 – Wilson

Motion declared carried.

Adjournment of the City Council was at 6:33 p.m.
