State Representative Brad Halbrook recently completed a tour of the southern border of the United States, specifically in Eagle Pass, Texas. The tour encompassed various locations, including Bridge 2, a well-known migrant crossing site, the Eagle Pass Border Patrol Station, and a 400-acre private farm that has become a major crossing point, now under federal government control. Halbrook also had the opportunity to visit a migrant processing site operated by the non-governmental organization, Mission Border Hope.
During his tour, Rep. Halbrook witnessed firsthand the alarming number of unsecured border crossings and spoke with private landowners who have been adversely affected by the presence of illegal immigrants on their properties. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into the urgent need for securing the border and protecting the country.
Expressing his astonishment, Halbrook remarked, "I’m stunned by how easy it is for migrants to enter the U.S. and I saw firsthand the U.S. government actively helping them enter the country illegally. The people we spoke with said the U.S. government is the biggest human trafficker in the world. This is an invasion and nobody is stopping it, instead they are making money off of it."
One particularly distressing aspect highlighted during the tour was the impact on farmers whose lands border the Rio Grande River. These landowners now find themselves under the control of multiple federal and state public safety groups, allowing migrants to freely cross the river onto their properties. The migrants are then transported by bus from these private lands to other processing points. The consequences are evident in the piles of clothes and personal belongings strewn across the farmers' properties. Shockingly, the landowners have discovered 57 dead bodies on their land, with migrants even seeking refuge in their barns and approaching their homes in search of basic necessities such as food and water.
Rep. Halbrook shed light on the exploitation of illegal immigrants, stating, "Illegal immigrants are treated as a commodity by both NGOs and the cartels. We were told bus contractors make $5,000 per person to ship migrants to Chicago. Those migrants are enticed up here because Illinois is a sanctuary state. Many will be enslaved to pay back the cartels for their passage. It is appalling that our politicians are allowing this to continue and that our taxpayers are paying for this complete lawlessness. The situation is out of control."
In response to these disturbing revelations, Representative Halbrook is urging every citizen to voice their concerns to elected officials at all levels, down to the school board, demanding accountability regarding the cost of this crisis and concrete actions to secure the border and eliminate incentives for illegal immigration.
Looking ahead, State Representative Halbrook plans to host a town hall meeting in the near future, where he will share video footage and photographs from his border tour. To stay informed about these events and receive weekly updates on important developments and news from around the state, interested individuals are encouraged to sign up for his newsletter.
The tour conducted by State Representative Brad Halbrook serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced at the southern border of the United States. It sheds light on the ease with which migrants are entering the country illegally, the distressing conditions experienced by private landowners, and the concerning exploitation of illegal immigrants. The urgency to address the open border crisis is clear, and every citizen is called upon to raise their voice and demand immediate action to secure the border and protect the nation's integrity.
