Shelbyville Community Unit School District 4 Board of Education met Nov. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Shelbyville Community Unit School District No. 4 met in a 7:00 P.M. Regular Meeting in the Shelbyville High School Cafeteria. Members present: Vincent Warren, Jake Hankins, Abbie Ballard and Ellen Trainor. Absent: Rob Bosgraaf, Scott West and Gary Hayden

Public Recognition and Communications

Mr. Schuricht stated the Illinois State Board of Education recognized November 15th as school board member day and thanked the members for their hard work and dedication.

Stan Wright stated his concerns regarding Main Street School.

Approval of Minutes from the October 19th, 2023 Open and Closed Meeting Minutes and approval of the October 2023 Financial Reports: Revenue Summary, Treasurer's, Board Bills, Expense Summary, Revolving Funds, Activity, and Fund Summary

Robin Yockey of Hottenrott & Associates presented and reviewed the FY23 Audit Report.

Todd Hannah and Desiree' Loxley from Green Associates and Jim Gleason from Fuhrmann Engineering presented the findings of their Feasibility Design Study.

Discussion was held regarding the District's and the individual report card data from 2022-20233 school year. The report looks good especially when computed with the state average, other regions and other area schools. High School is listed as Exemplary (less than 10% of high schools are listed exemplary) and Moulton and Main Street and listed as Commendable; whole district team and students do a great job. Principals presented each of their own building school report card.

First Reading of Board Policy 7:300- Extracurricular Athletics

Mr. Schuricht presented the tentative FY23 Tax Levy.

Motion to appoint Jake Hankins and temporary Secretary to the Board in the absence of Gary Hayden. Motion - Warren, Ballard, Hankins and Trainor. Motion passed.

Motion to approve the FY23 Audit Report as presented. Yea - Ballard, Warren, Hankins and Trainor. Motion passed.

Motion to authorize submission of the 2023-2024 school maintenance project grant application as presented. Yea - Warren, Hankins, Ballard and Trainor. Motion passed.

Motion to approve the bid from Easton Construction from Mattoon, II. for tennis court refurbishment in the amount of $57,850. Yea – Hankins, Ballard, Warren and Trainor. Motion passed.

Motion to approve the memorandum of understanding with the SEA regarding Health Insurance as presented. Yea - Warren, Ballard, Hankins and Trainor. Motion passed.

Motion to approve Luke Brown as a middle school volunteer assistant wrestling coach for the 2023-2024 school year pending successful completion of all requirements for employment. Yea - Hankins, Ballard, Warren and Trainor. Motion passed.

Superintendent Schuricht's monthly report.

December Board Meeting - Reminder the December meeting is scheduled for December 12th at 6:00 P.M. in the SHS Cafeteria.
