In the ongoing Illinois General Assembly veto session, the Democrat supermajority has been criticized for failing to address important issues facing the state. Republican Representative Miller expressed his frustration, stating, "Important issues like school choice, sanctuary state status, troubled child protective services, nuclear energy restrictions, support for Israel, and unionization of legislative staff continue to be essentially ignored by the party in charge." One of the key issues discussed during the session was the controversial "Firearms Ban". Representative Miller and his colleagues attended the ISP Committee Meeting to voice their concerns about the legislation that turns legal gun owners into criminals. Miller emphasized, "The fight to protect our Second Amendment will never stop, and we will not kneel to the progressive attacks on our law-abiding citizens." (source: Rep. Miller)

The implementation of the gun ban has faced resistance from Illinois residents, with only a small percentage registering their firearms with the Illinois State Police. Representative Miller highlighted the absurdity of the situation, stating, "Residents are required by law to register certain firearms before January 1st or they could face criminal penalties. This is ridiculous." He also mentioned that he has filed legislation to repeal the mandate that requires residents to own a FOID card in Illinois to legally own a firearm. (source: Rep. Miller)

In another legislative move, Republicans have opposed the Chinese Communist Party-affiliated battery company Gotion from building factories in Illinois and Michigan. This opposition is part of the proposed 'NO GOTION' Act. Representative LaHood explained, "The CCP should not be receiving American taxpayer-funded green energy credits for any reason." The issue of Illinois' sanctuary state status was also brought up during the session. Due to the Biden Administration's TRUST Act, state law enforcement agencies are prohibited from cooperating with federal agencies, putting a strain on state resources. Illinois House Republicans have proposed House Bill 4187, which aims to abolish the TRUST Act. The cost of supporting approximately 628,000 undocumented immigrants in Illinois is estimated to be $3 billion annually. Representative Miller criticized the response of Illinois Democrats, saying, "'SEND US MORE FEDERAL MONEY!!' Which, by the way, comes from and punishes the states that are doing things the right way." (source: East Central Reporter)

The silence of Illinois Democrats on the recent conflicts between Hamas and Israel has raised questions. Representative Miller suggested that Governor J.B. Pritzker is making a political calculation for a presidential run, stating, "Governor J.B. Pritzker is making a political calculation for a presidential run." (source: Rep. Miller)

In addition to legislative matters, preparations for firearm deer season are underway. Illinois hunters are gearing up for the season, with various rules and regulations in place to ensure responsible hunting. Representative Miller shared a personal moment, posting a picture of his grandson's first deer. (source: Rep. Miller)

In conclusion, the Illinois General Assembly veto session has been marked by criticism of the Democrat supermajority for neglecting important issues. Republicans have voiced their opposition to the firearms ban, the CCP-affiliated battery company Gotion, and the state's sanctuary status. The session has also raised questions about the silence of Illinois Democrats on international conflicts. As the session continues, Illinois residents can reach out to their state representatives for assistance with any issues they may have.
