In fact, this year alone, a record-breaking 736 known or suspected terrorists have been apprehended at the U.S. border. This alarming statistic raises questions about the effectiveness of the federal government's efforts to protect American citizens.

One state that particularly stands out in this regard is Illinois, which has become a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. This designation poses an imminent risk of a potential attack close to home. Thousands of illegal immigrants have flooded into Chicago without undergoing proper vetting, creating a significant safety issue for the state and its residents.

A former acting deputy chief of staff for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security shared his concerns about the situation. In an article on The Center Square, he emphasized the importance of preserving American values and protecting the rights and freedoms of its citizens. He stated, "American values stated in the Declaration of Independence: that all are created equal, with unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Terrorists want to take our freedoms, and it's unfortunate that the supermajority has opened a door of opportunity that puts American citizens at risk in their own country."

The threat of terrorists infiltrating the U.S. through its borders is a serious matter that demands immediate attention. The rising number of apprehensions highlights the need for enhanced security measures and stricter immigration policies. The safety and well-being of American citizens should be the top priority for the federal government.
