Arcola Community Unit School District #306 Building Committee met Feb. 1.

Building Committee Minutes – February 1, 2023

Present: Tom Mulligan, Superintendent, Ken Vogt – Director of Building and Grounds, Board Members: Lucas Shonkwiler, Sue Stout, Dr. Robert Arrol, Chad Strader, Hannah Myers, and Craig Wesch; Visitors: Shawn Bott and Kris Bott.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm at the Arcola District Office.

The committee met with Kris and Shawn Bott regarding the design of the high school gym banners. The group discussed options, placement of banners, and timing. The Botts will work on a design and get back to the committee for adjustments and approval.

Dr. Mulligan and Ken Vogt presented an updated plan and cost breakdown for renovating the high school lockers rooms. The cost estimate was provided by the district architect. The committee felt that exploring a summer 2024 timeline would be good.

Dr. Mulligan presented on the new security devices to secure doors in case of a violent intruder situation. He discussed the problems associated with the original devices and presented on new alternatives. He indicated that he was taking the new alternative to the staff security committee for discussion.

Dr. Mulligan presented a 3-year capital improvement plan and provided a financial overview on the capital improvement and the health life safety fund. The committee discussed the various projects and the possibility of grouping several projects and using debt certificates to fund the projects in the summer of 2024.

The building committee meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
