Robinson Public Library District Board of Trustees met Jan. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board members present in-person:  Michael Garrard, Todd Liston, Rhonda Moade, Debbie Scott and Debbie Walls

Board members present via remote: Guy Rumler

Board members absent:  Craig Beals

Total board members present: 6

Library staff present: Doug Roberts, Director; Janice Shick, Bookkeeper; Mindi Williamson, Children’s Librarian

Library staff absent:  None

Guests present: None

Public Present: None

Meeting called to order at 5:04 p.m.

Action Items:

Approved to accept the December 20, 2022 board meeting minutes as written, with no changes. Roll call of six approved.

Approved the December Check Register results as presented by bookkeeper, Janice Shick. Roll call of six approved. Board was also provided with a brief review of the excess of accumulated funds report in addition to the month/year-to-date balance sheet results and the aged payables report.

President’s report highlighted the following:

Board heard Director's report which highlighted the following:

All of the district’s public access computers (PACs) have had the FamilySearch icon added. Each computer station has instructional placards in plac.  A press release was submitted to the Robinson Daily News on Wednesday, January 11 announcing the inclusion of FamilySearch at each of district locations.

Scheduled this year’s community shred event at the library with Data Management. This year’s event will be held on Friday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Scheduled a program through Illinois Humanities Road Scholars. Jamie Poorman, an employee at the Marshall Public Library and a member of the Road Scholars Speakers Bureau, will present The Road Was Home: Romani American Travels in Central Illinois on Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m.  The program focuses on the story of Gypsy families who frequently visited the area in the late 1800s.  This is a no cost event for the library.          

Completed the Illinois Library and Information Network (ILLINET) Interlibrary Loan and Reciprocal Borrowing Statistical Survey along with the Annual Library Certification in L2 on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Reached out to SenSource Inc. to purchase an overhead mounted people counting sensor, VIDX. In addition, we are looking to purchase the Cloud-based reporting platform called Vea, that pairs with the sensor to give us the ability to run various traffic reports for the Robinson location.  First Choice Electric will complete the cable run from the sensor location to the switch in the basement prior to the sensor installation by SenSource.

Board heard the Children’s Librarian report:

We had a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus on December 13th. We also had a reindeer too.  There were 132 kids and 118 adults that attended.

We participated in the Community Baby Shower at the Community Center. We gave out information about kids’ programs and apps to the expectant mothers in attendance.  We had a total of 36 adults and six kids visit our booth.

We collected some new kids’ books and donated them to the NOW program for their Christmas bags.

Debbie Scott made a motion for adjournment.  All were in favor.
