Eastern Illinois men (3-4) and women's (3-4) swimming totaled 18 first place finishes against the Beacons of Valparaiso and Wabash College. The men's team defeated by Valpo and Wabash to improve to 3-4 on the season while the women's team defeated Valparaiso.

In the first event of the dual meet, the women's 400 medley relay team of Olivia Viele, Corinne Staneart, Kaylan Ottosen, and Camryn Lewis posted a first place time of 4:03.88.

Staneart would go on to win two more individual first place finishes in the meet. Her first came in the 200 yard freestyle where she posted a time of 2:02.55. She then followed that performance with win in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:08.45.

Another member of the 400 medley team, Viele, would go on to win two more events of her own. In the 100 butterfly, she would take first with a time of 1:00.50. Viele would also win and set a new personal record in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.15.

In the 1000 yard freestyle, Kennedy Darensbourg would capture another first place finish with a time of 11:04.28 which was 51 seconds faster than any other competitor. She also would take home a first place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:21.78).

Lewis would also aid the women's to a victory with a win in the 50 free with a time of 24.64. Genevieve Biberdorf also captured a first place finish in the 400 IM (4:51.22).

Autumn Grinter made an appearance on victory lane with a first place time in the 100 freestyle (54.37).

On the men's side, Spencer Wilson racked up his second victory of the season in the 1000 free with a time of 9:58.55 which marked his best time of the season. Like Darensbourg, he would also take first in the 500 free later on with a time of 4:48.93.

By just .22 seconds, Conner Colston squeaked out the win in the 200 yard freestyle with a finals time of 1:44.25. Dismas Dillon took home a second place finish in the 50 free after he finished with a 21.87.

Sebastian Rosales earned himself a first place in the 100 yard butterfly while posting a time of 52.58. Andrew Herman returned to the pool after an impressive last meet to take first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 53.62. He also took home the gold in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.76.

To conclude Friday's meet, both 200 medley teams took home first places to seal the victory for the Panthers. The women's team of Lewis, Grinter, Izzy Glasgow and Bella Earle finished with a time of 1:40.59. The men's team of Dillon, Colston, Jacob Wienants and Zach Clark finished with a time of 1:27.61.

EIU swimming will be back in action next Thursday, Jan. 26 as they host Southern Illinois at Padovan pool at 5 p.m.
