City of Arcola City Council met Nov. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Budd, Hensley, Smith, Garza and Becerra. Alderman Foran was not present. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson and Attorney Bequette were also present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Budd led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT There was none.

APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER 07, 2022 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman Hensley moved to approve the November 07, 2022 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Becerra. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER 05, 2022 THROUGH NOVEMBER 18, 2022 BILLS Alderman Smith moved to approve the November 05, 2022 – November 18, 2022 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Budd. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE HIRING PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE – PAUL GOODWIN Alderman Smith moved to approve hiring Paul Goodwin for public works employee at an hourly rate of $19.50 starting Monday, November 28th. Alderman Garza seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE SETTING THE PROPERTY TAX LEVY FOR NEXT FISCAL YEAR Alderman Hensley moved to approve setting the property tax levy for next fiscal year at $297,200. Alderman Becerra seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Alderman Budd Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Hensley Reported the Budget & Finance Committee met prior to this meeting and discussed setting amount for tax levy, the Abatement of Bonds (2012 Series and 2021 Series) and allocating Business District Funds for W. Main curb and sidewalk repair and Arcola Center parking lot repair.

Alderman Smith Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Garza Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Becerra Reported the Employee Relations Committee met and went into executive session (S ILCS 120/2c) to discuss personnel. Also discussed holiday party or alternatives and consideration of bonus for full and part-time employees.

As this concluded the business of the meeting Alderman Hensley moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Garza. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
