In a Nov. 1 Facebook post, Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Champaign) touted his rating by the Center for Legislative Accountability makings him one of the most conservative lawmakers in Springfield.
"At 86%, I'm tied with 3 other Reps for 2nd place. I am tied with one Rep for 1st in best lifetime score," Halbrook posted on Facebook. "23 state lawmakers were awared for upholding conservative principles in their voting, determined through a new analysis conducted by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of the American Conservative Union Foundation. The conservative rating is calculated through CPAC's scorecards and is based on lawmaker voting across 186 policy areas ranging from cultural and life issues to tax, fiscal and regulatory policies.”
Halbrook's lifetime rating is 92.58% according to the Center for Legislative Accountability. That's up from 86%, which was his 2021 rating.
The American Conservative Union Foundation, which is the home of the Center for Legislative Accountability effort, was founded in 1964.
Each year CPAC Foundation produces scores based on the voting records of every member of Congress and issues awards to the most conservative members. CPAC Foundation applies the same standard to state legislators and issues scores to 8,000+ members every year.
