In an Oct. 24 Facebook post, Sen. Jason Plummer shared information on Illinois Unemployment figures. Wirepoints linked to a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics release that said that Illinois had the second-highest unemployment rate during the month of September.

The District of Columbia had the biggest unemployment rate, 4.7 percent, followed by Illinois at 4.5 percent.

"I literally don't know what could be more compelling to the average Illinoisan, Wirepoints . Yes for jobs and lower taxes, no for corruption and higher taxes. Vote Republican," State Senator Jason Plummer said in a post to his official Facebook account.

Wirepoints said that these poor employment numbers are nothing new for Illinois.

"llinoisans have been suffering in one the worst five states for unemployment for several months, but now the state has jumped to the number one position," Wirepoints said during their analysis of the data. "This is what comes from pursuing policies that drive out companies like Boeing, Citadel, Caterpillar and Tyson."

In August, Illinois had the third biggest unemployment rate in the United States said Wirepoints. Illinois’ declining unemployment rating came in spite of a minor improvement in its jobless rate to 4.4%, down from 4.5% in June. The ranking change came as Delaware and Nevada had bigger improvements in their unemployment rate in July than Illinois did in the same period.
