In a recent Facebook post, Illinois state Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) raised the alarm about mobile abortion clinics through Planned Parenthood.

"In Illinois a twelve year old can have a full term abortion without parental notification," Niemerg said in the post. "Taking away parental rights and empowering sex traffickers. Now we see the first mobile abortion clinic in America! Starting right here in southern Illinois. With a growing number of patients in states that now prohibit abortion traveling for the procedure, Planned Parenthood says it will soon open its first mobile abortion clinic in the country, in southern Illinois.”

Planned Parenthood said their goal is to serve people.

"Our goal is to reduce the hundreds of miles that people are having to travel now in order to access care...and meet them where they are," Yamelsie Rodriguez, president of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, told NPR.

Niemerg also shared his views on the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V. Wade.

“This is a great day for the pro-life movement,” he said in a June release from his office. “But this is now a states’ rights issue and we have more work to do in Illinois. The Governor has called a special session of the General Assembly to take up more legislation to appease pro-choice activists. Instead of looking for ways to expand abortion the Governor should focus on services to help expecting mothers before and after pregnancy. We need to give mothers options, not limitations.”

In 2017, there were 42,080 abortions in Illinois, but not all of those were carried out on Illinois residents; a report from the Guttmacher Institute said.
