City of Flora City Council met June 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

OPENING CEREMONIES

At 4:30 p.m., Mayor Rick Slaughter called the Regular Council Meeting of the City of Flora to order and City Clerk Becky Burgess called roll. Present were Mayor Rick Slaughter, Commissioner Mike Genthe, Commissioner Phil Wiley, Commissioner Linda Spicer and Commissioner Jim Fehrenbacher,

Others in attendance were City Attorney Bob Coble, City Administrator Mike Stanford, Chief of Police Guye Durre, City Clerk Becky Burgess, City Treasurer Jeremy Henderson, Superintendent of Public Services Toby Rinehart, Building/Zoning Official Chad Bayles, two media representatives (Mary Anne Maxwell and Patrick Garrett) and four guests.

Mayor Rick Slaughter led the Pledge of Allegiance and Commissioner Linda Spicer offered the Invocation.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Amy Allen, Flora Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, addressed Council regarding an additional activity at the downtown July 4th celebration.

A MOTION TO ALLOW THE FLORA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HOST A MINI-PARADE ON JULY 2, 2022, WITH APPROVED ROUTE, WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SPICER; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER WILEY.

Andy Thomason, 618 Ministry, addressed Council regarding a night of worship and fundraiser at Library Park.

A MOTION TO APPROVE THE 618 MINISTRY TO HOLD A FUNDRAISER WORSHIP NIGHT AT LIBRARY PARK ON JULY 16, 2022, WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER WILEY; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER FEHRENBACHER.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

A MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGENDA FOR THE JUNE 6, 2022 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING FOR THE CITY OF FLORA WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER WILEY; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER GENTHE.

CONSENT AGENDA

The following items were listed under the Consent Agenda:

• APPROVE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 16, 2022

REGULAR BUSINESS

Mayor Rick Slaughter stated donations for the July 4th Fireworks are being collected by volunteers at Wal-Mart on the weekends. Anyone wishing to make larger donations may drop off a check at the Fire Station on Monday nights and take advantage of a photo opportunity.

Commissioner Mike Genthe reminded everyone to use caution and be safe as City employees are working on several projects.

Commissioner Jim Fehrenbacher thanked all that helped with the Memorial Day Observance Ceremony at Elmwood Cemetery, noting it was a wonderful event. Fehrenbacher then thanked Chad Bayles for his persistence with CSX, as they are demolishing the concrete block building across from the Depot that has become dilapidated.

City Administrator Mike Stanford presented several items for Council consideration. The first item was listed on the agenda as 720 E. North Avenue, but should have been 740 E. North Avenue.

A MOTION TO APPROVE SEEKING BIDS FOR A 1991 MOBILE HOME AT 740 E. NORTH AVENUE WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SPICER; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER WILEY.

A MOTION TO PASS ORDINANCE NO. 22-3210, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 3, SECTION 7 - PARAGRAPHS (S), (T), (U) AND (V), REGARDING TAP FEES, WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER WILEY; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SPICER.

At approximately 4:44 p.m., with no further business to discuss, Mayor Slaughter requested a motion to adjourn. COMMISSIONER WILEY MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN; SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SPICER. COUNCIL MEMBERS CONCURRED AND MAYOR SLAUGHTER DECLARED SAID MEETING ADJOURNED.
