City of Charleston Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met May 9.

Fire Chief Steve Bennett; Assistant Fire Chief Tim Meister; Police Chief Chad Reed; Deputy Police Chief Heath Thornton & Board Secretary Debbie Burkhart.

Call to Order 

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 3:02 p.m. in the Basement Conference Room of Charleston City Hall, 520 Jackson Avenue, Charleston, Illinois, with Board Chair Brendan Lynch presiding. All members were present.

Approval of Minutes 

Item #1: Board Chair Brendan Lynch made a motion to accept and approve the general session minutes of the April 11, 2022 meeting. Board Member Adam Fifield seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

New Business 

Item #2: Board Member Adam Fifield made a motion to accept and approve the requests for preference points for the Firefighter-EMS testing process. Board Member Carl Wolff seconded the motion. 

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #3: Board Member Carl Wolff made a motion to accept and approve the Firefighter-EMS Integrated Final Eligibility List. Board Chair Brendan Lynch seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #4: Board Chair Brendan Lynch made a motion to accept and approve the written examination scores for the Police Lieutenant promotional process conducted on May 6, 2022. Board Member Adam Fifield seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #5: Board Member Adam Fifield made a motion to accept and approve the Police Lieutenant Initial Eligibility List. Board Member Carl Wolff seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #6: Board Member Carl Wolf made a motion to accept and approve the written examination scores for the Police Sergeant promotional process conducted on May 6, 2022. Board Chair Brendan Lynch seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #7: Board Chair Brendan Lynch made a motion to accept and approve the Police Sergeant Initial Eligibility List. Board Member Adam Fifield seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #8: Board Member Adam Fifield made a motion to accept and approve the scores for the Entry-level Police Officer examination process conducted on May 7, 2022. Board Member Carl Wolff seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

Item #9: Board Member Carl Wolf made a motion accept and approve the Entry-level Police Officer Initial Eligibility List . Board Chair Brendan Lynch seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a vote of Yeas – 3, Nays – 0 

The Board discussed scheduling a date for oral interviews for the police promotional process. It was determined that the oral interviews would be conducted at the June 13, 2022 meeting with the first interview beginning at noon.

Recommendations for Removal, Hire and Promotion 

None.

Adjournment: 

Board Chair Brendan Lynch made a motion to adjourn at 3:05 p.m. Board Member Adam Fifield seconded the motion.
