Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey has urged residents of East Central Illinois to attend Republican Day, citing the need to send Pritzker a strong message.

“I know it is a little bit of a drive, but I encourage everyone in East Central Illinois to take the time to drive to Springfield and participate in Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair,” Bailey said to East Central Reporter. “We need all hands-on deck to send JB Pritzker a strong message that Illinois is ready for change.”

Bailey also stated that the upcoming election has a lot riding on it.

“There is a lot at stake in this election. It is important for us to send a unified message to JB Pritzker that we want a new direction for Illinois.”

Further discussing how Pritzker's policies have harmed the economy and made life more difficult for working families, Bailey enumerated some of the ways Illinois residents have been affected.

“His failed policies are destroying our economy and hurting working families,” Bailey said. “School supplies cost more money. Gas prices in Illinois are higher than surrounding states. People are over worked, over-taxed and ready for change. Let’s send a message to JB Pritzker that there is strong momentum to make him a one-term Governor. If you can make it out, we would love to see you at Republican Day at the Fair!”

To those planning on attending the Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair, best to know that only the first 1,500 registrants are permitted entry to the event. “Everyone else over 1,500 will be issued a simple ticket allowing them admission into the Republican Day Rally event but not a free admission onto the fairgrounds or a free BBQ lunch. You will find out if you have a FREE ticket on Saturday, August 13th via your email,” reads the message on the Illinois GOP website.

Election integrity is the Illinois GOP's top issue as the fall elections approach, according to Don Tracy, the party's chairman, earlier this year, Prairie State Wire reported.

As the GOP is forecast to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the autumn, a so-called "Red wave" is anticipated, according to Roll Call.

A Gallup survey showed President Joe Biden's popularity is at an all-time low, while support for conservative lawmakers is rising, New York Post reported.
