How many times were students suspended or expelled in Villa Grove Community Unit School District 302 in 2020-2021 school year?

Villa Grove Community Unit School District 302 reported two suspensions or expulsions for the 2020-2021 school year, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 2 students during the year. This equates to less than one percent of the 600 students enrolled.

Students were expelled for one incident with violence without physical injury, one incident with alcohol and tobacco.

The district reported that most in-school suspension was given for tobacco, of which there was one. For one incident, student was suspended for one to two days.

Boy students received zero suspensions, while two girls were suspended.

There were one elementary or middle school student, and one high school student suspended in 2020-2021 school year.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspension was given for violence without injury, of which there was one. For one incident, student was suspended for four to 10 days.

Illinois ranks as the 5th state in terms of the overall number of schools and student enrollment among all states.

Illinois lawmakers enacted laws in 2015 to restrict schools from disciplining a disproportionate number of Black and minority students out of school and into the criminal justice system, often for minor misbehavior.
