"Honored and humbled" were the words state Sen. Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) used to describe his emotions after he was elected to the Illinois Republican State Central Committee by GOP precinct committeemen.
Plummer expressed his gratitude in an Aug. 1 Facebook post.
"I do not take the trust they have placed in me lightly," he wrote in the post. "Reform is long overdue at the Illinois Republican Party and I will be a strong, independent, and conservative voice for change at the state party. It is time the Illinois GOP represents the wants and needs of Republican voters rather than the wants and needs of certain elected officials, consultants, and staffers. It is all about performance and accountability to the voters - the grifting and insider games must end."
In his post, Plummer shared a link from the Illinois GOP announcing the election of the new State Central Committee members.
The following people are the newest committee members: Tim Ozinga, Judy Diekelman, Jeanne Ives, Jay Reyes, Aaron Del Mar, Sean Morrison, Mark Hosty, Joan LaSonde, Mark Shaw, Laura Pollastrini, Rhonda Belford, Tim Butler, Larry Smith, Jason Plummer, Jan Weber, and Chad Weaver.
Plummer called out Democrats for high gas prices, corruption, and more in June. According to the Metro East Sun, Plummer explained how the Prairie State differs from its Midwest neighbors using a national gas price heat map for reference on social media.
In July, he announced his endorsement by the Illinois State Rifle Association and said he would "always be a strong supporter of the #secondamendment at the State Capitol," in a Facebook post.
