Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Teutopolis) thanked his supporters for attending the Dieterich Fourth of July parade.
“Great turnout for the Dieterich 4th of July Parade thank you to everyone who walked with us,” Niemerg wrote on Facebook. “A special thank you to the many others that supported us at other parades.”
Niemerg took to office in 2021 and is running to continue representing Illinois’ 109th District in the upcoming November general election.
In the past few months, Niemerg has called on lawmakers to return to session to repeal the Green New Deal. Niemerg questioned the integrity of the Illinois power grid and whether or not it will be able to handle a surge in demand over the summer.
“We need to get back to Springfield,” he told The Center Square. “We need to repeal the Green New Deal. We need to bring Ameren [an energy supplier] to the table, and have a productive energy policy moving forward.”
KHQA reported that Niemerg wants to end Illinois’ gas tax.
He also blamed Democrats and Gov. J.B. Pritzker for the effects of inflation. “People, the moms and dads trying to get their kids back and forth from soccer to baseball practice, to school this fall are paying the price,” Niemerg said. “We’re paying the price at the gas pump, at the grocery store. Inflation is out of control and the Democrats and the governor have done nothing.”
According to Effingham Radio, Niemerg issued a press release call for Illinois to issue a ban on abortion.
In a June 4 Facebook post, Niemerg railed against Pritzker’s recent disaster proclamation. "Power and control … don't think for a second the mandates would not be in place had you not pushed back. The continued executive orders are all a setup to bring back masking and mandate if and when the Governor wants,” Niemerg posted.
