In a May 26 Facebook post, gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) announced the steps he'd take to ensure election integrity in Illinois.

"I'm proposing annual cleaning of voter rolls in every county, individual ballot tracking of mail-in ballots, a random 1% audit of voter signatures and ballots for every election, and mandatory voter ID while allowing free IDs for those who do not already have a driver's license or state ID," Bailey posted.

"My team and I are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of our election process in Illinois," Bailey posted. "Thousands of Illinoisans are concerned with the process, and we must work to improve and restore confidence in our elections moving forward. This means we put in place common-sense processes that make it easy for Illinoisans to register and vote and easy for us to identify and eliminate any potential fraud."

He shared a link to his campaign site, which contained a video and a petition. The text read: "It's time we bring commonsense back to Illinois. We must restore election integrity and it starts with you. SIGN BELOW to stand up for Illinois elections."

The  Illinois Election Integrity Program, run by the Illinois Conservative Union, which focuses on ensuring that the deceased are not part of current election rolls.

"Helping to maintain clean voter rolls is non-partisan," the group posted. "Every voter, no matter their political party, should want to make sure their vote is not cancelled by an ineligible voter who fraudulently votes."
