Analysis: Clay City administrators rank 276th in state for average pay

Administrators in Clay City Community Unit School District 10 earn an average of $110,728 per year, ranking 276th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 16.8 percent higher than in 2016 and 25.1 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 0.5 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Clay City School District in Clay County enrolled 328 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 164 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
