City of Charleston Carnegie Public Library Board of Trustees met Feb. 7.

Chris: We went to curbside service only in January, due to lack of staff (illnesses). Library was also close in February due to snow storm. Brenda Miller has put in her notice. Beth will fill in until a replacement is found. Chris worked with the HVAC computer settings and now heat in his office and Kattie’s is working again. The virtual author event has 1100 registrants and 6 of them where from Charleston. The COVID assistance program coordinator search continues. The hope is to find a GA for the summer. We have received $7780 in the fundraising letter, which is close to pre-pandemic levels. The per capita grant will drop due to changes in populations. It was a slow month for bills in January. We are spending conservatively this year, 7% below targeted levels. Electric and gas bills are up. The audit is done, but the meeting to review it has not been scheduled. DHM has been contacted to review the mechanical HVAC system. The fire alarm panel also needs to be replaced. The entire panel is out-of-date.

a. The last weekend of September is also Tour de Charleston, so we need to choose a different weekend, possibly 9/10. Action items: get the liquor license and secure Brick House for the food
