Pizza, Petitions, and Politics is the theme of an upcoming campaign event in Taylorville for State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) that also promises conversation with the representative and other leaders.
Halbrook took to social media to invite constituents to attend the event.
"As the 2022 Primary campaign season kicks off, please join us for Pizza, Petition, & Politics Party," Halbrook wrote in a Feb. 6 Facebook post.
Halbrook promised that beside himself, other elected officials and candidates would be in attendance so that voters had the opportunity to speak with them.
"We'll discuss the good, bad & ugly of current and future policies in and around the county, state, & national level. We will discuss ways to make things better," Halbrook added in the post.
The event is scheduled for Feb. 16 at Florinda's Pizza Ristorante Italiano at 114 S Main St. in Taylorville. It'll take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
"There is no cost to attend this event however contributions to offset the cost would always be appreciated," Habrook wrote in the post. "Join us and bring a friend! Please RSVP so that we can have proper accommodations."
According to the Chambana Sun, back in December Halbrook announced he'd seek reelection but for the newly drawn 107th House District.
At the time, Halbrook said he wanted to keep at his battle to "turn the state around." The Chambana Sun reported that Halbrook pointed to several issues that were impacting Illinois including increased government spending, no plans for meaningful tax relief, the state pension problems, and the legislature's failure to get to the root of government corruption.
Halbrook has also been vocal about the need for lawmakers to work together to combat Illinois' skyrocketing violent crime rate and get to the "root cause of violent behavior."
