Principals shared details from state testing data. Scores were expectedly lower than normal with COVID/remote learning being a primary cause. Summer school was discussed as a possibility depending on available staff.

5. Board and administrator reports

Superintendent Jon Julius reported that the COVID numbers had spiked a bit but not as bad as some other areas are reporting. The next couple weeks may be difficult with keeping enough staff healthy, but after the surge of infections are over, things should be manageable in the spring. The district is also taking the CDC guidance to only quarantine for 5 days instead of 10, which should help the numbers to remain lower as well.

Principal Jim Sullivan said the Jared’s Keeper’s program was held for all staff in the district and junior high and high school students. The program is something that the administration plans to implement on campus that will help some students and families. It is a suicide prevention program. Mental health is a major concern that is on the rise everywhere due to the environment caused by COVID.
