Report: Cowden-Herrick School District spent $11,153 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Cowden-Herrick Community Unit School District 3A was up 29.6 percent from five years ago, according to the East Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Shelby County school district spent $8,603 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $11,153 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 447 to 326 students over the same period.

Cowden-Herrick's spending in 2019-20 was 23 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
