Report: Mattoon School District spent $11,002 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Mattoon Community Unit School District 2 was up 11.1 percent from five years ago, according to the East Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Coles County school district spent $9,901 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $11,002 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 3,429 to 3,132 students over the same period.

Mattoon's spending in 2019-20 was 24.1 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
