Q2 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Clay County?

There were six offenders living in Clay County released on parole during the second quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by East Central Reporter.

The data shows five men and one woman were released in Clay County. The median age of the parolees was 38. The youngest parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2020, and the oldest was a 53-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2020.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Derek A. Britz. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2018 when he was 34 years old. He is now 37.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2021 in each Clay County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
