Effingham County Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Local Businesses:
The Effingham High School Athletic Department would like to thank you for your past and future support of our programs through your advertising, sponsorships, and donations.
I have been made aware of an unauthorized vendor, out of Texas, who is soliciting advertising for promotional items. Please be advised this company has not been given approval through Effingham Community Unit #40 to produce anything. Please be aware that there could be other vendors doing similar projects and have not contacted our school prior to contacting you.
Currently, the only outside vendor with our approval is Royal Publishing, in Peoria Illinois who publishes periodic programs usually during IHSA post season tournaments. In addition, our district utilizes our local printing companies and our Sportsbacker organization for these type projects as well.
If you have suspicion about a vendor, please feel free to contact me at the school (217-540-1269) if you ever have any questions regarding this issue or any future matters. Unfortunately, some companies will suggest they are representing a school without contacting the school and then profit from the ad sales for their products.
