Arcola City Council met Aug. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were  Alderpersons Budd, Hensley and Becerra. Aldermen Foran, Smith and Garza were not present.  City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson and Attorney Bequette were also present. 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Budd led the council and audience in the  Pledge of Allegiance. 

PUBLIC COMMENT There was none. 

APPROVAL OF AUGUST 02, 2021 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman  Hensley moved to approve the August 02, 2021 council meeting minutes as presented and was  seconded by Alderman Becerra. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. 

APPROVAL OF JULY 31, 2021 THROUGH AUGUST 13, 2021 BILLS Alderman  Budd moved to approve the July 31, 2021 – August 13, 2021 bills as presented and was  seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. 

REPORT FROM THE TIF ADVISORY COMMITTEE The TIF Advisory  Committee met August 09th reviewed and recommended the council approve a request from  Wilmer Otto for a Storefront Rebate for exterior upgrades to the property at 120-122 E. Main.  Alderman Hensley moved to accept the recommendation of the TIF Advisory Committee and  was seconded by Alderman Budd. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. 

CONSIDER AND APPROVE THE PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH GTSI FOR  A WHELEN WARNING SIREN SYSTEM -- $27,670 Alderman Hensley moved to approve  the purchase agreement with GTSI for a Whelen Warning Siren System in amount of $27,670.  He also moved to waive formal bidding on this project. Alderman Becerra seconded the motion.  Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. 

CONSIDER AND APPROVE THE CONTRACT WITH ENGINEERED  SOLUTIONS MIDWEST FOR SADORUS PUMP STATION REHABILITATION – JOINT WATER AGENCY -- $182,649.35 Alderman Budd moved to approve the contract  with Engineered Solutions Midwest for Sadorus pump station rehabilitation – Joint Water  Agency in amount of $182,649.35. He also moved to waive formal bidding for this project.  Alderman Hensley seconded the project. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. 

CONSIDER AND APPROVE HIRING A PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER – CODY LEE Alderman Hensley moved to approve hiring Cody Lee as a part-time police officer  and was seconded by Alderman Becerra. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 21-S-11, 20% REBATE – ABUID  & SANDRA SALDIVAR Alderman Becerra moved to approve Ordinance No. 21-S-11 and  was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. 

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 21-S-12, AN ORDINANCE  APPROVING DOWNTOWN AND I-57 BUSINESS DISTRICT AND FIXING A TIME  AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING DATE ON THE DATE ON THE PLAN AND  DESIGNATING THE BUSINESS DISTRICT Alderman Becerra moved to approve  Ordinance No. 21-S-12 and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes.  Motion carried. 

COMMITTEE REPORTS 

Alderman Budd Had nothing at this time. 

Alderman Hensley Had nothing at this time. 

Alderman Becerra Had nothing at this time. 

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderman Hensley moved to adjourn and  was seconded by Alderman Budd. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
