City of Mattoon Tourism Department recently issued the following announcement.

Mattoon Tourism and Arts September 22, 2021

September 22 Broadway Bolt 3 Mile Race & FREE 1 Mile Fun Run /Walk, just prior to MHS Homecoming Parade Downtown Mattoon

  • This event follows the historic Mattoon Invitational Cross Country Course dating back over 50 years. Participants will be running down crowed-lined streets as this run/walk leads our MHS Homecoming parade! Both the 3 mile and 1 mile run/walk finish at Peterson park so participants can still watch the parade.   • Race begins at 5:15 with parade at 5:30.

September 24 Mattoon Chamber Lobster Boil

  • Reserve your spot for dine in or carry out today. Reservations are required for lobster purchase. No sales are available the day of the event. The reservation flyer is available to print or download at www.mattoonchamber.co.
  • Dinner Includes: 1 cooked or live 1.25 - 1.5 lb. lobster served with new potatoes and 1/2 ear of corn, 1 drink ticket of choice, and live music. Only $50 per person. Mattoon Eagles Club 1917 Oak Avenue.

September 25 Life Span Center - Coles County Council on Aging Dueling Pianos fundraiser

  • The Coles County Council on Aging is proud to announce that Felix and Finger's Dueling Pianos will perform at our fundraiser. Doors will open at 5:30 pm and dinner is served at 6:15 pm. Dinner is provided by Niemerg's Steak House and is included in the price of the ticket. Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos of Chicago will bring non-stop musical entertainment where the crowd will be laughing, dancing and singing. Tickets available through Eventbrite. September 25 Tour de Charleston Bike Race

  • The Annual Tour de Charleston Bike Race, presented by the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce, offers a 12.5, 25, or 50 mile bike race. The 3 cycling courses begin at the historic Coles County Courthouse Square in Charleston, Illinois and travel through scenic rolling hills and rural landscapes in Coles & Clark Counties. Timed bicycle races-12.5, 25, and 50 miles. September 24-25 Lincoln Log Cabin annual Harvest Frolic

  • Come celebrate the arrival of autumn at the Harvest Frolic on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You won't want to miss this experience of 19th-century life on the farm. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to take part in mid 19th-century activities - games, crafts, cider pressing, and more - on the Lincoln and Sargent Farms. Artisans will be demonstrating their 19th-century crafts, and performances will take place throughout the weekend. For a full line up of events check them out on Facebook.

  • Every Wednesday Charleston Farmers Market on the Square 7-10a

  • Every Friday 8a-noon Mattoon Farmers Market in Lytle Park
  • Every Friday throughout the summer, lunch and music in Heritage Park 11:30am-1pm each Friday. 
  • Every Saturday Charleston 18th St. Farmers Market 8-11am
