Arcola City Council Met June 21.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Smith, Becerra, Budd and Foran. City Administrator Wagoner and Treasurer Anderson were also present. Aldermen Hensley and Garza and Attorney Bequette were not present.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Smith led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT There was none.
APPROVAL OF JUNE 07, 2021 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman Foran moved to approve the June 07, 2021 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF JUNE 05, 2021 THROUGH JUNE 18, 2021 BILLS Alderman Budd moved to approve the June 05, 2021 – June 18, 2021 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
REQUEST FOR STREET CLOSURES FOR ANNUAL POP THE TOP CAR SHOW Larry Ferguson spoke on behalf of the Pop the Top Car Show and requested street closures be allowed on July 03rd from 7:00 a. m. to 4 p.m. Street closures requested are Oak Street from Jefferson to Main and Main from Oak to Collins. Alderman Smith moved to approve the request and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
CONSIDER AND APPROVE RESIGNATION OF OFFICER JESSE OAKLEY Alderman Smith moved to approve resignation of Officer Jesse Oakley and was seconded by Alderman Becerra. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
CONSIDER AND APPROVE HIRING PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER Alderman Smith moved to approve hiring Michael Bradley as part-time police officer and was seconded by Alderman Becerra. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
CONSIDER AND APPROVE SALARY INCREASE FOR WATER & SEWER CLERICAL STAFF Alderman Budd moved to approve salary increase for water & sewer clerical staff in amounts of $ 0.36 an hour for Barb Chumbley and $ 0.52 an hour for Ally Wise. These will take effect tomorrow. Alderman Foran seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Alderman Smith Reported the Police, Ordinance & Enforcement Committee met following the last regular council meeting and went into executive session.
Alderman Becerra Had nothing at this time.
Alderman Budd Reported the Water & Sewer Committee met prior to this meeting and Bill gave updates on Locust St. water main, Joint Water Agency upgrades and water tower inspection & updates. Discussed salary increase for water & sewer clerical.
Alderman Foran Had nothing at this time.
City Administrator Wagoner reminded everyone the fireworks are to be Sunday at dusk at Green Mill Village.
As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderman Budd moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
