City of Martinsville City Council Met May 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

*The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson, prayer was given by Melinda Lovell and all in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Roll call was answered by the following council members and elected officials: Chris Davidson, Chris Perry, Melinda Lovell, Troy Propst, John Skinner and Preston Rukes. Also, in attendance were Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk Jana Akers, Treasurer Terri Connelly, attorney Richard Bernardoni. Employees and citizens in attendance are attached to the back of the minutes.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

-Dan Truelove came to speak to the council about issues with his property. He will be on the next meeting agenda to discuss this further.

*Motion by C Davidson 2nd by T Propst to approve minutes of council meeting from 05/12/2021 Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

*Motion by C Davidson 2nd by P Rukes to continue with the new trash contract through Wallace Brothers for $103,500 for first and second year Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

*Motion by C Davidson 2nd by C Perry to approve Dessie as cleaner of the city offices for $25 week. Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

*Motion by T Propst 2nd by M Lovell for payroll ordinance for second year being 2022-2023 Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

*Motion by J Skinner 2nd by C Davidson to remove L Marlene Wilhoit from all accounts Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

*Motion by C Davidson 2nd by J Skinner to accept applications for Superintendent of Streets from May 27, 2021 to June 23, 2021 at 4pm. Upon roll call vote all alderman present voted for the motion (6)

*Motion by C Perry 2nd by C Davidson to go into executive session at 7:53 pm

*Motion by J Skinner 2nd by C Davidson to end executive session at 8:06 pm

COUNCIL COMMENTS

-CDL for city employees to operate VAC truck

-take bids to fix the floors, put in newspaper.

-Mayor Davidson to talk with Ameren about lighting at the cemetery with possibly a directional light. With no other comments:

*Motion by C Davison 2nd by C Perry to adjourn the meeting at 8:11pm

All council members present voted for the motion. (6)
