Central A&M Community Unit School District 21 Board of Education Met May 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of the Central A&M Community Unit District #21 in the counties of Shelby, Christian and Macon counties, Illinois was duly called and held at the Central A&M District Office within the boundaries of the district.

Board President Josh Burgener called the meeting to order at 6:57 pm, and Secretary Tim Dowd called the roll. Members answering present were Tim Dowd, Brock Boltz, Brian Hanley, Chris Just, Bryan Bender, Collin Townsend and Josh Burgener.

Administrators present: Dr. DeAnn Heck, Charles Brown, Courtney Hiler, Joanne Coady and Rick Hauffe. Also Present: Jess Lehman, Harry Book and Matthew Rund

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Josh Burgener.

PUBLIC AND EMPLOYEE COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS

A. Citizens Agenda – Harry Book, district bus driver. Concerned with student safety due to cars passing stopped buses and no tickets being written to his knowledge. He asked that the district look into installing cameras on all of the buses to identify vehicles violating the law. 

B. Request for Use of Facilities to be Added to the Agenda – None

C. Items to be Added to the Current Agenda – None

EXECUTIVE SESSION (CLOSED MEETING)

A motion was made by Brian Hanley and seconded by Chris Just to enter into Executive Session for Discussion of Matters Pertaining to Employment, Compensation or Other Matters Appropriate for Closed Session as Mandated per 5 ILCS120/2-Motion. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0. Board entered Closed Session at 7:28 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Brian Hanley to return to Open Session at 8:12 p.m. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

ADOPT AGENDA-MOTION

A motion was made by Brian Hanley and seconded by Chris Just to adopt the agenda as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

A motion was made by Chris Just and seconded by Brian Hanley to approve the consent agenda as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

A. Employment Needs of the District

i. Approval of Kemmerer Village Principal

A motion was made by Brian Hanley and seconded by Chris Just to Approve Joanne Coady as Kemmerer Village Principal for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 School Years as Presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

ii. Approval of Bond Elementary/CAM Middle School Principal

A motion was made by Chris Just and seconded by Brock Boltz to Approve Courtney Hiler as Bond Elementary/CAM Middle School Principal for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 School Years as Presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

iii. Resignation of KV Aide

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Chris Just to Approve the resignation of Mikia Kleiss, KV Aide effective end of 2020-2021 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

iv. Resignation of MS Boys Track Coach

A motion was made by Collin Townsend and seconded by Brock Boltz to Approve the resignation of Tyler Niebrugge, MS Boys Track Coach effective end of 2020-2021 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

v. Resignation of HS Girls Asst Basketball Coach

A motion was made by Brian Hanley and seconded by Brock Boltz to Approve the resignation of Mike Garner, HS Girls Basketball Coach effective end of 2020-2021 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

vi. Resignation of HS Boys Basketball Asst Coach

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Chris Just to Approve the resignation of Brent Weakly, HS Boys Basketball Asst Coach effective end of 2020-2021 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

vii. Approval of HS Girls Basketball Coach

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Collin Townsend to Approve Brent Weakly as HS Girls Basketball Coach effective 2021-2022 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

viii. Approval of MS Girls Track Coach

A motion was made by Brian Hanley and seconded by Chris Just to Approve Kaitlin Villanueva as MS Track Coach effective 2021-2022 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

ix. Approval of MS Boys 8th Grade Basketball Coach

A motion was made by Collin Townsend and seconded by Josh Burgener to Approve Danny Himes as MS Boys 8th Grade Basketball Coach effective 2021-2022 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

x. Approval of HS Poms Coach

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Brian Hanley to Approve Kaley Nidiffer as HS Poms Coach effective 2021-2022 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

xi. Approval of HS Asst Volleyball Coach

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Brian Hanley to Approve Ocie Duncan as HS Asst Volleyball Coach effective 2021-2022 SY as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

xii. Approval of Student Worker for Summer Cleaning

A motion was made by Chris Just and seconded by Brian Hanley to Approve the hiring of Elsie Rund to be a student worker to help with 2021 summer cleaning as presented. The roll was called and members answered as follows: Dowd, aye, Boltz, aye, Hanley, aye, Just, aye, Bender, aye, Townsend, aye and Burgener, aye. Motion passed 7-0.

B. Approval of Fees for 2022 SY

A motion was made by Brock Boltz and seconded by Chris Just to Approve fee increases as follows: 

$50.00 Technology fees Elementary and MS

Breakfast

All grades $1.30

Adults $1.95

Lunch

Elementary $2.50

MS & HS $2.70

Adults $3.05
