Robinson Public Library District Board of Trustees met Feb. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting called to order at 5:02 p.m.

 Action Items:

  • Approved to accept minutes of January 19, 2021 board meeting as written, with no changes. Roll call of four approved.
  • Approved the January Check Register results as presented by bookkeeper, Janice Shick. Roll call of four approved. Board also provided with a brief review of the month/year-to-date balance sheet results and the aged payables
  • Approved the six-month statement of receipts and expenditures for the period of July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. Roll call of four
  • Approved expenditures of up to $15,000 for the purchase of new furniture for the Teen/Young Adult reading area. Roll call of four
  • Approved expenditures of up to $5,000 for the purchase of new signage for the adult, teen and children’s areas. Roll call of four
  • Approved the initiation of painting the walls in the children’s area. Roll call of four
  • Tabled for the next board meeting, the question of incorporating the dedicated cleaning hours for branch locations into regular hours of operations at the established hourly cleaning rate of pay for each designated cleaning person, effective March 1, 2021.
  • Approved adding Jennifer Wilson to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), due to an increase of regularly scheduled hours to 20 hours per week, effective March 1, 2021. Roll call of four
Discussion Items:

Board heard the President's Report from Debbie Scott which highlighted the following:

 Board heard Director's report which highlighted the following:

  • Completion of installation of LED bulbs in the Genealogy room; adjacent hallway; staff room, kitchenette and staff entrance hallway by First Choice Electric on 2/2 and 2/3/2021. Test fitting of new light lenses in the main reading areas has met with satisfactory results.  The balance of lenses have been ordered.
    • Installation of new dedicated internet circuit at the Oblong branch postponed until Thursday, March 25 because of inclement weather.
    • Employee break room and rest room areas have been repainted. Waiting on Goff’s to install a new toilet and sink.
  •  Consumer fraud and identity theft presentation given by Marsha Griffin, Community Outreach Liaison of the Illinois State Attorney General’s Office, to library staff on February 8, 2021. The presentation was conducted via Zoom.  A brief staff meeting was held afterward.
  • The Director (Doug Roberts) and Assistant Director (Michelle Blair) have both completed their 2021 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) training.
