State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) hosted a video conference on his Facebook page where he and fellow Republican lawmakers discussed Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s (D-Ill.) budget plan.

Halbrook was joined by state Reps. Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur), Blaine Wilhour (R-Effingham), Paul Jacobs (R-Carbondale), Chris Miller (R-Oakland), and Adam Niemerg (R-Teutopolis).

Most of the representatives agree that Pritzker made a mistake raising taxes on business owners because they believe that this will discourage entrepreneurs from investing in Illinois.

Halbrook said that Pritzker is making the same promises and making the same mistakes as before.

He said, “The governor had an opportunity to change direction, to bring on some new ideas and eliminate . . . just kinda lather, rinse and repeat all the failed policies of the past.”

Halbrook said that Pritzker did not touch on matters of the state that should be his top priority. Halbrook reminded his followers that the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card processing has not been fixed yet.

Many gun owners are complaining that the Illinois State Police takes too long to process their cards and Halbrook said that Pritzker seems to be neglecting to fix this.
