Miller faces backlash for video, vehicle decal

State Rep. Chris Miller (R-Oakland) is coming under fire from Democrats and at least one Republican after videos of him making inflammatory statements during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol have surfaced.

The decal on his pickup truck with the logo of a militia group isn't helping things.

Videos of him saying “We’re engaged in a great cultural war to see which worldview will survive” and calling the Democrats “dangerous,” and a photo of his pickup truck parked at the Capitol with a Three Percenters logo have brought the attention of other lawmakers and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

“I have never been a member of the 3 Percenters,” Miller said, WCIA reported.

“My son received the sticker that was on my truck from a family friend who said that it represented patriotism and love of country,” Miller said.

“Nobody puts something on their car randomly,” David Goldenberg, regional director of the ADL said. “People need to understand what they’re embracing. Declaring ignorance, especially ignorance from an elected official, is a completely unacceptable answer,” WBEZ Chicago reported.

According to the ADL, Three Percenters is a “far-right, anti-government extremist group that is part of the militia movement.”

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R- Channahon), and Democrats have requested an investigation.

“Rep. Miller put a militia sticker on his car and is suspected to have been at the insurrection,” Kinzinger wrote on Twitter. “Our party needs to handle this and I support further investigation.”

The Democrats have recently signed a resolution condemning Miller’s actions.
