Arcola City Council Met Feb. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present in council chambers were Alderpersons Ferguson, Budd, Foran, Huckstep and Hensley. Alderman Smith was present virtually. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson and Attorney Bequette were present in council chambers.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderwoman Ferguson led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT Wilmer Otto stated that he is still hoping for solution to keep Metropolitan Block intact. Realizes it is probably too late but would like to still see it restored. Stated it has been devastating for downtown for this block to be out of commission. He has been working with Bill to see if there is TIF money for a new building to be built there. Is disheartened by limited things you can do with TIF money to build new building.

APPROVAL OF JANUARY 18, 2021 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman Budd moved to approve the January 18, 2021 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF JANUARY 16, 2021 THROUGH JANUARY 29, 2021 BILLS Alderwoman Huckstep moved to approve the January 16, 2021 – January 29, 2021 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JANUARY 2021 Alderman Foran moved to approve the Treasurer’s report for January 2021 and was seconded by Alderwoman Ferguson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT The Zoning Officer reported 1 permit issued in the month of January with valuation of $8,000 and a fee in amount of $32 collected. Alderman Foran moved to approve the January Zoning Officer’s report as presented and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 21-R-1, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FROM THE CITY’S SPECIAL TAX ALLOCATION FUND (TIF) FOR EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH DEMOLITION Alderman Budd moved to approve Resolution No. 21-R-1 and was seconded by Alderwoman Huckstep. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

There were no committee reports.

Mayor Ferguson reported the new proposed co-op to help vitalize downtown or other buildings within the city met and recommends everyone find out about this and try to attend next meeting on February 09th.

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderwoman Huckstep moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
