City of Mattoon issued the following announcement on Dec. 19.
Update: The source of the odor has been located in the area of Neoga. Ameren is working to resolve the issue.
**Public Service Announcement **
The Mattoon Police and Fire Departments are aware of the natural gas odor in the southern part of the city. They are currently investigating the situation.
