City of Mattoon issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.
The City of Mattoon will be hosting a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29 to discuss a grant application for Phase 2 of the Bike Trail Expansion Project. The project includes extending the bike trail from 10th Street to 16th Street. The meeting will be part of the regularly scheduled Public Works Advisory Board Meeting for September.
The City of Mattoon and the City of Charleston are nearing completion of Phase I of the Bike Trail Expansion Project. The Phase 1 Project included resurfacing the existing trail from Logan Street in Mattoon to ‘E’ Street in Charleston. The Phase 1 Project was funded in part by an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) Grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The City of Mattoon intends to apply for ITEP Funding for the Phase 2 Project as well. The Phase 2 Project would connect the existing trail to the Downtown Business District, the Amtrak Depot, the Public Library, and the YMCA.
The meeting will be hosted on Cisco WebEx Video Conferencing. The public is invited to attend. Interested parties can obtain a meeting invitation by texting or emailing a request to CreanD@MattoonIllinois.org. Access will be available by phone or computer. A Cisco WebEx account is not required to attend
